Bachelorette
by Leslye Headland

Described as a ‘wicked, dark comedy’ about female friendships and growing up in an age of excess. It’s the story of a bachelorette party the night before a wedding, with characters going from being playfully wasted to devastatingly destructive.
Note: Please plan to arrive early as parking around the Cultural Centre could be at a premium due to nearby Canada Day celebrations.
Warning: Portrayals of alcohol and drug use, sexual content, and profanity.

The Exquisite Hour
by Stewart Lemoine
Powerhouse Theatrical Society
Okanagon Zone
This light comedy is a sweet ode to bygone days when the world’s knowledge seemed to be contained in encyclopaedias and peddled by a door-to-door salesman. Or in this case, saleswoman. Helen Darimont is a chirpy, charming, lady who interrupts  Zachary Teale late in the afternoon as he sips lemonade in his backyard, to politely ask him for an hour of his time.

The Pillowman
by Martin McDonagh
Portal Players
North Island Zone
This is a drama which centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. The result is an urgent work of theatrical bravura and an unflinching examination of the very nature and purpose of art.
Warning: This play is for mature audiences only; it contains coarse, racist and graphic language; discussion of infanticide; and a gun shot.
